North Stradbroke Island is 30 km southeast of Brisbane, Queensland. Access is by ferry from Cleveland across Moreton Bay. Straddie, as it is affectionately known, is the second largest sand island in the world. The island is about 38 km long and 11 km wide. It has a permanent population of approximately 2500 with three main townships of Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout. The island’s unique, timeless beauty is appreciated by all who live there and visit the island.
Aboriginal middens have been found on Straddie that date settlement back as far as 25,000 years ago. The Quandamooka people have a unique cultural heritage that they share through their storytelling, art and dance performances. Our tour takes in the natural beauty of the Island.
You will be transported from Brisbane, across the Vehicle Ferry, allowing us private transport the entire time on the Island. We'll visit the pristine water of Brown Lake, the epic North Gorge Walk, stay at accommodation on the beach, and search for local koalas, kangaroos and heaps of marine life. We usually see koalas, kangaroos, whales and manta rays (in season), turtles, and heaps of dolphins!
